WTR Recommends COJK Trademark Practice
World Trademark Review (WTR) has named COJK and trademark attorneys Everett Fruehling, Jerry Nagae, and Melissa Nowak to the 2017 edition of WTR 1000 – The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals. The guide ranks COJK's trademark practice amongst the top ten in law firms in Washington state, noting the firm’s “sophisticated patent practice” as being matched by what clients describe as a "very strong, well-known trademark group."
Trademark practice group leader Everett Fruehling is recognized for his experience as a former trademark examining attorney at the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the perspective this experience gives him in trademark prosecution. As one client observed, “He doesn’t practise defensively, but rather tries to walk in the client’s shoes and proactively offers practical advice.” Jerry Nagae, whose practice encompasses all aspects of intellectual property law, is acknowledged for his experience of over 30 years of practice in both patent and trademark law, which clients say grants him a "360-degree view of intellectual property." The guide includes Melissa Nowak for her devotion to her practice in both patent and trademark law and the draw her biology background has for clients. “She is incredibly conscientious, hardworking and knowledgeable. Both her scientific and legal expertise are extremely helpful,” comments a client.
The WTR 1000 guide identifies leading practitioners and law firms exclusively in the trademark field. In compiling the rankings, researchers consider information provided from law firms on their work over the past year, insight from other legal professionals, and the perspective of the clients benefiting from their work. Individuals and firms qualify for a listing on the basis of their depth of expertise, market presence, and the level of work on which they are typically instructed.
