The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office examining attorney who originally refused registration of Apple Inc.'s "iPad Mini" on the grounds that the mark was merely descriptive recently withdrew the refusal in a supplemental office action. In the office action, the examining attorney required Apple to submit a disclaimer of "mini," to state that the company is not claiming an exclusive right to use the term separate and apart from the entire mark "iPad Mini."
