The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) recently released an updated report looking at female participation in the United States' Intellectual Property systems. “Progress and Potential: 2020 Update on U.S. Women Inventor-Patentees,” is a follow-up report on the results published in 2019, which updates the previous findings based on a review of nearly one million additional issued patents and three years of new data. Among the numerous findings, the study found that more women are entering and staying active in the patent system than at any other time, with the number of patents naming at least one female inventor increasing from 20.7 percent in 2016 to 21.9 percent by the end of 2019.
