USPTO Commemorates Fifth Anniversary of AIA
September 16, 2016 marks the fifth anniversary of the date the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act (AIA) was signed into law by President Obama to modernize the United States patent system and strengthen its competitiveness in the global economy. In observance of the occasion, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the American Intellectual Property Law Association will hold an event on September 21, 2016 in Washington, D.C. The event will feature remarks from members of Congress, USPTO leaders, and industry stakeholders, and a panel discussion with intellectual property community leaders to review the impact of the AIA reforms on businesses of all sizes, independent inventors, and the innovation community, as well as explore the next steps for America’s intellectual property and innovation economy.
