Lao PDR Adopts Madrid Protocol for Trademark Registration Process
The Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) became the 97th member to join countries already streamlining the international trademark registration process by ratifying the Madrid Protocol on December 7, 2015. The Madrid Protocol is an international filing system established to provide a cost-effective and efficient way to file a centralized trademark application in a single office, in one language, with one set of fees, and in one currency. As of March 7, 2016, trademark applicants will have the option to include Lao PDR when filing new applications under the Madrid Protocol.
