Lanham Act 75 Year Anniversary
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the passage of the Lanham Act, the primary federal trademark law of the United States. Enacted July 5, 1946, the Lanham Act is the primary federal trademark statute of law in the United States. The Act prohibits activities such as trademark infringement, trademark dilution, and false advertising. The Act was named for Texas representative Fritz G. Lanham and signed into law by President Harry Truman. The United States Patent and Trademark Office and the State Bar of Texas’ IP Law Section are hosting an event to commemorate the anniversary.
