David Sheldon Joins AI Ethics Panel
Patent attorney David Sheldon will join a panel discussion on ethical considerations for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in patent practice, hosted by the Washington State Patent Law Association (WSPLA).
Featured speaker Matthew Sked, Senior Legal Advisor in the Office of Patent Legal Administration at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), will introduce the discussion by providing guidance for patent practitioners on the use of AI-based tools in practice before the USPTO, including existing USPTO rules and policies.
The panel discussion will immediately follow and will include topics surrounding the ethical use of generative AI in legal work, such as maintaining competency and preserving confidentiality.
The WSPLA program will take place on January 15, 2025 at 12:00 – 1:30 pm, at Microsoft Building 36 in Redmond. Up to 1.5 Ethics CLE credits are pending approval. For more information, please visit the WSPLA site here.
