COJK is pleased to be one of the sponsors of a University of Washington and Seattle University STEM summer internship program to host seven high school students from Pahokee, Florida, to attend a weeklong internship program in Seattle this month. The students will spend an immersive week learning how university technical transfer departments bring ideas into reality, where they will learn each step of the product creation process, from ideation to product distribution. COJK attorneys Julie Bowman and Taylor Fairchild will host the students for a presentation on the basics of intellectual property (IP) and where IP sits in the process. During their visit, the students will meet with inventors, university educators, and technology transfer professionals as part of the internship, which is aimed at exposing the students to STEM-related studies and potential careers.
