This year, COJK partnered with Seattle University School of Law to create the Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF) Endowment Fund, which funds the University’s PILF Summer Grant Program. Law school students granted the scholarships are able to gain valuable legal experience while providing quality legal services to underrepresented and marginalized populations through unpaid summer jobs at nonprofit or public agencies.

COJK’s grant went to Jennifer Schell, a Seattle University law school student who clerked in the Consumer Protection division at the Washington State Office of the Attorney General. The summer clerkship allowed Jennifer the opportunity to experience first-hand, how the state’s attorneys work to enforce Washington’s Consumer Protection Act, while also further defining her legal career goals. COJK is proud to have sponsored this important and worthwhile program.
