COJK Named to IAM's 2014 List of Leading Patent Practitioners
COJK and four members of the firm were included in International Asset Management (IAM) magazine’s third annual publication of the guide, IAM Patent 1000 — The World’s Leading Patent Practitioners. The guide identifies the top patent practitioners in key jurisdictions around the world. The IAM Patent 1000 recommended the firm for both patent prosecution and litigation in Washington state, noting, "this esteemed IP boutique maintains a balanced patent practice, undertaking a variety of clearance, preparation and prosecution, litigation and transaction work for patrons." The firm’s "business-first approach" provides great value to clients, and the attorneys’ "real-world engineering experience" assures "technical dexterity."
John Denkenberger, co-managing member of the firm and head of the litigation practice group was named to the list for the third year in a row, maintaining his status as the only practitioner recommended in all three categories for Washington state: litigation, prosecution, and licensing. Kevan Morgan, co-head of the firm’s patent practice group, was noted for his prosecution experience and his skill in all aspects of patent law. Two additions to the list this year include co-managing member George Renzoni, who focuses his practice on patent procurement and portfolio development, and Jerry Nagae, co-head of the patent practice group, whose broad-based practice encompasses all aspects of intellectual property law.
The guide was compiled by an extensive research process which included hundreds of interviews with attorneys at law, patent attorneys and in-house counsel to gather market intelligence on the leading lawyers in the field. Firms and individuals qualify for a listing on the basis of their depth of expertise, market presence and the level of work on which they are typically engaged.
