COJK Elects New Members
COJK is pleased to announce that Peter W. Becker and Andrew L. Laughlin have been elected to the membership, effective January 1, 2021.
Pete Becker is an attorney in the firm's trademark practice group, assisting clients in developing and implementing global trademark, copyright, trade secret, and domain name strategies. Pete's practice includes brand management, licensing and IP monetization, risk analysis, prosecution, policing, oppositions, UDRP proceedings, customs seizures, and defensive conflicts. He also assists clients with IP aspects of commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions.
Pete brings to his practice nearly two decades of experience serving as in-house trademark counsel at leading technology companies, which provides him with valuable insights into clients’ practical business needs. Pete earned his J.D. from Marquette University Law School and received his B.A. in education and history from Marquette University.
Andrew Laughlin is a member of the firm's life sciences practice group, focusing his practice on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications related to chemical, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, nanotechnology, materials science, diagnostics, pulp and paper, medical and mechanical devices, and related software inventions. He has expertise working with high throughput screening systems, microfluidic devices, diagnostic markers, and implantable medical devices.
Prior to joining COJK, Andrew was with the University of Washington's technology transfer office, where his most recent role was as a senior patent portfolio manager responsible for managing all aspects of the patent portfolio for chemistry and life sciences inventions across the university. Andrew earned his J.D. from Seattle University School of Law and received his B.S. and his M.S. in chemistry from the University of Washington.
