COJK Attorneys Participate in CASRIP's Summer Institute
COJK patent attorneys Rhys Lawson and David Sheldon presented at the 2016 Patent and Intellectual Property Law Summer Institute conducted by the Center for Advanced Study & Research on Innovation Policy (CASRIP) at the University of Washington School of Law. David's presentation, "Appeals in the U.S. Patent Office," provided an overview of patent appeals, including pre-filing considerations and important elements of the appeal process. Rhys' presentation, "Design Patents: An Important Tool in Your IP Toolbox," provided an overview of design patents, including how design patents are obtained, both domestically and internationally, the benefits they provide, and the potential risks of infringing a third party’s patent. The Summer Institute took place from July 14 – 29, 2016.
The Center for Advanced Study & Research on Innovation Policy is a research and policy development institute focusing on problems in patents and other property ownership rights in high technology.
