COJK attorneys Everett Fruehling, Alina Morris, Melissa Nowak, and Brandon Stallman attended the 139th International Trademark Association (INTA) Annual Meeting, which took place in Barcelona, Spain. Over the course of five days, trademark practitioners were given the opportunity to attend discussions about effective mediation, best practices to protect trademark rights worldwide, the fundamentals of licensing, personal branding and marketing, and the differences in perspectives between trademark practitioners and academics. Advanced topics included the implementation of European trademark reform, key developments in the Madrid and Hague System and how to handle provisional refusals, and the annual review of leading case law in the European Union.

Alina Morris facilitated the table topic discussion, “More Than Merely Descriptive: Anticipating, Answering, Amending, and Accepting Trademark Act Section 2(e) Refusals,” on May 20, 2017. This year's meeting was held at the Fira Gran Via Conference Centre in Barcelona, Spain from May 20 – 24, 2017.
